Know the Paraguayan circuits and tours

Yguazu - Itaipu – Jesuit Missions

Day 1: Departure from the Hotel in Asuncion. Visit the Franciscan Church in Yaguaron, world-famous for its hand-carved wooden sculptures by indigenous Guarani done in a Hispanic-Guarani baroque style. Continue then by National Route Nº 1 and passing Paraguari, Carapegua, Roque Gonzalez, Quiindy, Caapucu, Villa Florida, San Miguel and San Juan Bautista until arrival at the San Ignacio Jesuit Mission Museum.

After the visit to the museum, which represents an important basis for understanding the Jesuit undertakings in South America, there will be time for lunch. We then shall pass by Santa Rosa (includes a visit to the centre where there can be found a well kept indigenous habitat dating to the time of the Missions), San Patricio, San Ramón, Gral. Delgado until arriving in San Cosme and Damián, another Jesuit Reduction which distinguishes itself especially for the investigative astronomy studies made by the Jesuits. The journey then continues by passing Col. Bogado and Carmen del Parana until arriving in Encarnación, a southern cosmopolitan frontier city of Paraguay that is situated opposite the Argentine city of Posadas.

In Encarnacion there is a visit to the old port area as well as the commercial centre of the ancient town, all of which will become inundated once the Yacyreta dam reaches its highest operational level. The tour continues by National Route Nº VI to Bella Vista and the Papillon Hotel-Restaurant (or another hotel of the same category) in which to stay the night, cflose to the next day’s places to be visited. .

The Trinidad Jesuit Missions

Day 2: After a succulent breakfast we head towards the Jesuit ruins of Trinidad. Then a visit to the town of Hohenau, founded by German emigrants in the early part of the 20th century as well as the United Colonies of Obligado. Then we shall continue by National Route Nº VI passing through the most important agricultural areas of Paraguay situated in the Itapua and Alto Parana Departments. After a 250 kilometre journey we shall arrive around 2.30 p.m. to the Itaipu Hydroelectrically run dam near Hernanadarias in order to commence a visit that includes an instructive film presentation, a visit to the Museum of Natural Science and Archaeology as well as the animal park that are part of the Itaipu complex. Then continue to the city of Ciudad del Este in order to cross the “Friendship Bridge” that joins Paraguay with Brazil so as to arrive in Foz del Iguazu and our Hotel.

In the evening there is the opportunity of partaking of a dinner that includes a show in a typical barbeque establishment. A mixed show awaits you that includes indigenous cultures accompanied by a plentiful barbeque-styled dinner.

Day 3: After breakfast we shall visit the waterfalls (Brazilian side) and the Yguazu National Park. Take you time in enjoying this wonder of Nature that comprises passing through some 1.200 metres of well trodden paths. !Very important: Do not forget your camera!

A visit to the three frontiers: Argentina – Brazil – Paraguay and to an artesian fair. Optional is a visit to the Aviary Park

Return to Asuncion with the possibility of having dinner en route with a night arrival at the Hotel.
